Acupuncture treatment uses needles, which are inserted into specific places on the horse's skin, known as acupuncture points.
The existence of these points can be verified by measurement: their electrical conductivity is greatly increased while the skin resistance is reduced. The majority of acupuncture points are located on energy paths known as meridians, which flow through the body like a river network.
Acupuncture needles are made of steel, silver or gold. In the case of horses, their lengths can vary between 2 and 20 centimetres.
